Advanced Notice about Rock Challenge 2017

Dear Parent

Advanced Notice about Rock Challenge 2017

I am writing to give you advanced warning that we are planning to enter the Rock Challenge again next year. For those of you who don’t know what the Rock Challenge is – it is a competition between local schools to produce an 8-minute original dance/drama piece. The schools meet for a day of rehearsals at the Guildhall in Southampton and then take part in an exciting evening of performances on the Guildhall stage with professional sound and lighting.

It is a truly memorable experience for the children and I know that many of the children who were involved last time are very keen to do it again. It takes a lot of effort and commitment between September and February to get the performance to the standard where it is ready to go on the stage. Rehearsals will be every Thursday until 4.30.

I will be sending out a letter in early September asking for a completed slip and the £15 entry fee which we need to pay to the Rock Challenge. To make it fair I can’t take any names before this letter is sent out. We can only take 50 children and I must warn you that last time we entered the 50 places were taken by 9am on the morning after I sent the letter home which gives you some idea how popular it is with the children.

We will send a text home in September letting you know when you need to look out for the letter so that you don’t miss it.

Yours sincerely

Jill Gardner
