Year 4 Trip to the River Itchen – Thursday 21st March 2019
To support our ‘Raging Rivers’ topic, Year 4 will be visiting Itchen Valley Country Park and walking alongside the River Itchen. We will be using our investigative skills in order to observe, measure and record key features of the River Itchen at different locations along its course.
We will travel to Itchen Valley by bus, leaving school at 9.30am and will be walking alongside the river back to school by the end of the school day. The children do not need to wear school uniform but as they will be outside and walking over rough and possibly muddy ground, they should wear sensible trainers or other walking shoes. We would not recommend wellies as these are not comfortable to walk long distances in. They should also wear warm clothes and must bring a waterproof coat or jacket.
The children should also bring a packed lunch and a drink in a suitable bag. If your child is entitled to a free school meal, they will be provided with a packed lunch but we would ask that you indicate this on the reply slip. We ask for a contribution of £6.00 per child to cover the cost of the coaches. Please pay online or by cash/cheque (cheques made payable to Beechwood Junior School). If insufficient contributions are received, unfortunately, this visit may need to be cancelled.
Please complete the attached reply slip and return to the school office together with your payment by Friday 15th March 2019.
