Re: The University of Southampton ‘Learn with US’ Outreach Programme – 21st June 2016
I am delighted to inform you that your son/daughter has been invited to participate in University of Southampton outreach activities, in this case a visit to the University to experience several ‘mini-lectures’ and take part in some interactive activities. The university would be very grateful if you could complete and sign the attached application form to provide them with information required for health and safety and well-being. This information also enables colleagues at the University to monitor and evaluate the long term effectiveness of their work.
The University of Southampton is working in partnership with the school and is covering the cost of these activities so the trip is totally free. Children will need to be in full school uniform and bring a packed lunch for the day. If your child is entitled to FSM and you would like to order one, please complete the reply slip below by Friday 17th June.
HE outreach activates are aimed at showing pupils the Higher Education opportunities available at College and University , and how completing a Higher Education course can benefit their career prospects.
More details about HE outreach can be found at the website: http://www.southampton.ac.uk/schoolsandcolleges/index.html
Your child may take part in events that could be photographed and recorded for HE outreach reporting and promotional purposes. If you do not wish your child to participate in HE outreach activities or to be photographed, or their details to be recorded for research purposes, please advise the school in writing as soon as possible. In addition, your child may be asked to participate in research activities, such as focus groups, where anonymised results might be published in reports. Please advise the school in writing if you do not wish your child to take part in focus groups. We would draw your attention to the Data Protection paragraph at the bottom of this letter.
