Year 6 Visit to D-Day Museum Thursday 3rd March 2016.
As part of our World War II History topic, we are intending to visit the D-Day and Overlord Embroidery Museum in Southsea. The children will take part in a hands-on workshop based on the ‘Home Front’. They will also explore the museum looking at an air-raid shelter, a 1940’s dining room, a representation of the D-Day control room at Southwick House, plus many other exhibits. This will be a really exciting trip for the children and will help by giving them first-hand experience of many of the areas covered in this topic.
We will be leaving school by bus at approximately 9.00a.m and will return to school by 3.00p.m. If your child normally has school dinners we would be grateful on this occasion if you could provide a packed lunch. If your child normally receives a free school meal please indicate on the slip below if you would like a packed lunch provided for them. The children will need to wear school uniform and need to bring a warm coat or jacket.
We are asking for a contribution of £13.00 to cover the costs of the trip. Please pay on-line, by cash or cheque, (cheques made payable to Beechwood Junior School) by Monday, 23rd February. If insufficient contributions are received, unfortunately this visit may need to be cancelled.
